Robust Evaluation of Solutions Intended to Lower the Induced Effect of New Climates on Ecocities
RESILIENCE uses an innovative transdisciplinary approach to evaluate the effectiveness of urban planning policies, their potential co-benefits and public acceptance. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Marseille and Lille metropolitan areas.
Six interdisciplinary scientific axes covering the major challenges of the sustainable city
Monitoring and modelling of atmospheric pollutants, ultrafine particles (UFP), secondary organic aerosols and their impact on urban health.
Study of Urban Heat Islands (UHI), thermal properties of surfaces (albedo, emissivity) and development of the CityVox software.
Urban ecological corridors, continuity of green networks, biodiversity and the role of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for the carbon balance.
Transition to active mobility, Low Emission Zones (LEZ), assessment of impacts on air quality and UHIs, citizen perception.
Environmental health inequalities (EHI) at neighbourhood (IRIS) scale, multidisciplinary composite indices and decision-support tools.
Acceptability of urban policies, citizen surveys, behavioural change and resident participation in sustainable transition.
RESILIENCE brings together researchers in atmospheric chemistry, thermal physics, ecology, urban planning, social sciences and environmental health to address the challenges of the sustainable city as a whole.
The project uses a multi-scale approach — from street level to the metropolitan area — combining field observations with advanced modelling tools (CHIMERE/MUNICH, CityVox).
The two study territories, Marseille and Lille, have contrasting profiles in terms of density, governance and climate, offering a unique comparison for assessing the replicability of approaches.
